What's in YOUR Purse?

So a few years ago I read an article in Creating Keepsakes Magazine encouraging us to empty out our purses and photograph the contents. I did that then, and this week, Stacy Julian, scrapbook extraordinaire, encouraged us again. I love this practice because it really says something about who you are AT THIS MOMENT.

I go back and forth between smallish purses and large ones, and I'm currently using this huge beach bag! I love that I can take my dSLR in it and not look like a tourist. This is the contents today:

I have: my brand new polarized sunglasses from the fishing store, my wallet with my Alaska driver's license, Air Force ID card, 2 debit cards, several gift cards, $1 cash, and $4.65 in change, my Mary Kay pressed powder, 2 pens, my BlueTooth earpiece for talking on my cell while driving on base, my Carmex (never go anywhere without it!), my hair band, lotion, eye drops for contacts, DH's truck keys, postage stamps, a Sharpie marker, an emory board, and a key ring with cards such as a Costco card, library card, and local supermarket cards.

This photo does not have (but I carry every day): my cell phone, my keys with the remote start, and my Canon XTi camera.

Now let's see if I can find my picture from the last time I took this little challenge....
I just noticed she said she wrote the article in 2001, so I'm going to have to go through my scrapbook pages to find it. I'll get back to ya!

Getting ready for the "Week in the Life" project!

I downloaded some new templates from Cilenia and Dar at DDS today and made a practice page in preparation for next week's Week in the Live project a la Ali Edwards. I did this in 2008 (click on the link in the right column to see all the posts from that project).

These are the templates I downloaded. They are on sale this week! They are only $3.50 for 24 templates!

{Supplies: Templates and Overlays Details of Today set, at Digital Designer Shop, background paper from the Color Play Bone Neutral paper set at DDS, Font: CK Ali's Hand.}

I altered the overlay just a bit to make it work for the whole weekend (I removed the day and moved the "date" up a little bit. I wrote the date with my Wacom tablet. The whole page took me about 20 minutes, including choosing photos in iPhoto, choosing which template I wanted to use, and choosing the background paper.

I think I can do that for a whole week!

I have seen some previews of some of the many new items that will be in her store this weekend and I'm overjoyed!

I don't have permission, but do you want to see one of the previews? Shhh, don't tell her!

Isn't that cute? Don't you LOVE that shade of red? I do! I will be using this one a LOT!
Plus I talked her into a bright kit (she likens it to a box of Crayola crayons!) WOO HOO!! I can't wait! My poor pocketbook!

I made this page using Cilenia's goodies:

{Supplies: All supplies by Cilenia Curtis from Digital Designer Shop: papers from the Valencia kit (to be released this weekend), Stamp Masks (to be released this weekend), staples and stitches from the Fancy Little Basics kit, and the journaling notebook paper is from the Love Matters kit. Easter Memories

I'll bet you're expecting to hear about my kids and how our Easter 2010 went, right? Well I spent some time on Sunday thinking about my childhood Easters. I went through my iPhoto library, and the 8 disks of pictures my Dad had scanned from slides. (Yes, I thanked him, again, for scanning those!) And I made a layout. About me. Me of Yesterday.

{Supplies: papers and elements from April Staker; fonts: Century Gothic, writing over photos: Pea Cammi-Pea, title: my handwriting using my Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet}

Would it look better if I made the title into "stickers"? I was thinking about that. What do you think?

new blog addy :)

I'm so tech happy right now! I just changed my blog to www.nickyhurt.com! How cool is that?! (Don't worry, all thousands of you who read my blog *eye roll* can keep your bookmarks, you'll still get here!
