A few weeks ago I made a basket of cookies as a door prize for a Volunteer Appreciation Event we held on base. It took me 3 days straight to bake and ice these cookies.
The event was 1950s themed. Think poodle skirts, greased back hair, and record albums. If you don't know what a record album is- back away slowly!
It was several months ago, not long after we voted for our theme for the event, when I saw this digital scrapbooking kit by Jady Day Studio for the first time. It was PERFECT!
I bought the kit, and used it for inspiration when making my cookies.
Here they are.....
Poodle skirts.
Leather jackets, and one for a Pink Lady.
Record albums.
Roller Skates.
Grease Lightening sports cars.
Tubes of hair grease.
Ice Cream Sundaes.
Coke bottles with straws.
The whole shebang.
Now I have to admit that the only thing I know about the 1950s was from Back to the Future and from Grease, but I think they turned out rather cute. :) Several of the ladies who helped set up really liked them and asked for the recipe.
The older gentleman who won the door prize didn't look too thrilled- but I like to think that most men don't understand the creativity and work that goes into something like this.
Don't tell me otherwise.
Please. ;)
